How To Reach Maximum Potential Working Out

Have you reached your maximum potential?

Many may want to achieve their maximum potential when it comes to working out but very few actually will.  Not to say that there is anything wrong with not reaching your maximum potential either.  If you were to achieve 99% that would still be incredible.

To truly reach 100% in life with anything can be nearly impossible.  Nothing will ever be perfect, but in respect to the achieving your maximum potential, it can be.

You can create a beautiful wooden table, but wood is organic and susceptible to weathering and imperfections.  Even if every cut appeared to be perfectly straight, there might be some slight variance where it is not where the tool waivered when cutting.

To the average eye it would appear perfect, but the person who made it would notice immediately.  Chasing perfection is impossible.  While they often go hand in hand, that is something completely different than achieving maximum potential.

99 to 100

The amazing thing about achieving your maximum potential is that is it is actually possible.  Everyone has the ability to become the very best version of themselves.  There can be an ultimate best version of you and it can also change with age or circumstances.

If you believe you have already reached your 100% maximum potential, chances are you may be at 99% 99.9% or even 99.99%.  Even so, if you truly want to achieve your maximum potential, here are a few ideas of areas you can implement to get you even closer.

These tips are not solely for those who are close to their maximum potential.  They can be applied to anyone interested in improving themselves at all.  This is meant to help give an outside perspective of some things you may not have given attention to that can make a difference in your life.

Form

Even if you have your workout routine 100% dialed in, track progress, have 20+ years experience and think you are doing everything right, you may not be.  Plenty of people in the gym have told me they have worked out for even 30+ years, yet when I observe them, it is clear they have improper form.

The only way to know for sure is to film yourself and use the internet to gather a reliable understanding of what proper form is.  Then compare it to every exercise you perform and see if it can be improved.

Diet

Chances are that if you are very experienced in the gym you understand how important diet is.  With that, you probably know if your diet is on point or not.  Even so, nutritional information is always changing and if you’re reading this then you have access to that stream of new information.

Every now and then do some research to see if any studies have changed and try implementing them to see if they make a difference for you.

Sleep

In today’s mentality of “I can sleep when I’m dead” “F*ck sleep, just grind” or anything along those lines to become successful, you may be hindering yourself.  Sleep is an extremely important aspect to achieving maximum potential.

Sleeping helps to aid in recovery for muscle growth, maintain a strong immune system, optimize your body’s hormone levels and much more.  While you may be sacrificing sleep to achieve your goals, don’t let society fool you.

If you feel you need to sacrifice sleep to achieve success because some internet millionaire mentor guru says thats the way, think twice.  With improper sleep you are far more likely to feel burnt out and ultimately cause you to fail at achieving your goals.

It is not cool, tough or hard to sacrifice sleep.  If you need to be more productive in your day, analyze all aspects of it and see where any inefficiencies are before you take away from your sleep.  Cut out social media, plan your day and be aware if your focus is getting off track.

Supplements

*Disclaimer: this is not medical advice, always consult with your medical professional before ingesting any supplements.

In the past we have written an article related to our top 5 recommended supplements you can read here for more in depth information.  To add to that list, here are some additional supplements to consider:

  • B12
  • Tart Cherry
  • Glutamine
  • Collagen
  • ZMA
  • Boron
  • Selenium
  • Ashwagandha

On top of that, it is important to get a full blood panel to check all health markers.  In addition to that, get a full hormone panel to get a baseline and monitor with age.  For males, Testosterone is a powerful hormone that aids in keeping you at your maximum potential.

Keep in mind though, if diet, nutrition, supplementation and exercise are not already at maximum potential, seek to do that first.  After doing so and your levels are still not optimal, then you can consider supplementing it.

Meditation

Meditation is another powerful tool to help you achieve your maximum potential. While you may have tried in the past and it didn’t work for you, we encourage you to keep giving it a chance until you can conclude with certainty that it does not work no matter how many different methods you have employed.

It does not just come in one form.  This is why many say they are unable to meditate however they have a misconception of it.  If possible, find a mentor to teach you different ways.  If not, there is plenty of good information online and apps that can help.

Meditation helps to achieve focus and clarity.  In doing so it can help to reduce anxiety levels which ultimately may affect your sleep and it is a compound effect.  When your cortisol (stress) levels are high, your sex hormones like testosterone can decrease which leads to you not achieving your maximum potential.

Have you reconsidered?

Hopefully we have sparked some inspiration to give you some areas to improve in your life.  Reaching your maximum potential requires you to give your best effort in many aspects in life, not just how hard you are training.

It is always a constant battle between enjoying life and sacrificing things in order to achieve your best self.  Nothing will ever be easy which is why few ever achieve it.  At the end of the day even just attempting to achieve your full potential may be it in itself.

You don’t to be perfect and, as we discussed will not, to achieve your maximum potential.  Analyze all aspects of your life and seek to do your best at achieving them.
